Dunnoattar Castle is one of Scotlands great ruined castles. It has a prominent place in Scottish history. It's about two miles south of Stonehaven. My painting Low-Tide at Stonehaven beach lead me to paint this. We hiked to the little beach just under the castle and had lunch. The weather wasn't this stormy looking, but I like the feeling it gives to the painting.
