The path is an old railway line that runs along the River Dee. It passes right in front of the house where my wife grew up. I liked the idea of the path representing a path of life. It goes into the shadows with just a hint of light further on, but beyond that is unknown. The tree looked to me like a guard standing watch.

This is an original oil painting I created in 2010. I painted this as part of a series titled 100 paintings in 100 days. The subject is a single empty plaster vessel with a decorative lions head and roping. The subject was lit with a single light source to give a dramatic feel which I felt highlighted its symbolic nature. [...]

 Oil on Linen 8" x 10" 2010
Here is my latest auction listing. This is an original oil painting, painted in 2010. This is in Oak Creek Canyon, just outside of Sedona, Arizona. I think trees, especially the older ones, have a lot of personality. They are like old gods. This tree reminded me of the Greek myth of Narcissus, leaning over to gaze at his reflection in the water.
